- rbpruExplorer III always thought it was asking a lot of any speaker to hold up to the RV environment. I would replace them with the cheapest I could find.
However, if sound quality was important then I would go with what sounds best to me and hope for the best.
I rarely use mine camping but enjoy them when working on the TT. The DW has used them when working in the flower bed near the home parking spot. - RollandBExplorerOur outside speakers (a year old and used twice) have horrible sound. If I really want to have music or radio outside since my phone has all my CD's on it, I'll spend the money on a Bose Soundlink. A friend let me try his and was amazed at the sound something smaller than a brick put out. Normal for Bose, big sound from a small speaker. If you watch prices you can quite often get them below their $199 price
- 93Cobra2771ExplorerUnless your current ones are totally blown out, you likely won't get a ton better sound. Marginally better at best. Reason being - the amps in the radios are terribly underpowered and simply just don't have enough juice to drive a decent set of speakers.
The bluetooth route will give you much better sound, but obviously not as convenient as ones mounted on the wall.
In your search, look for speakers with the full frequency response of 20-20000 hz. The higher the signal to noise, the better. And ohms as mentioned earlier is a big deal. - sremsingExplorer

Then don't bother posting on this thread.....and judging the OP at the same time.
STFU.
Sorry, but I don't see any judging in there. Guess you misread my post. - _1nobbyExplorer

A good quality marine speaker will work. Alternatively, I buy weatherproof speakers here, at US Speaker (they are not cheap, though)
This right here!
I`ll need to replace my cheap factory ones soon and will be doing some research on the best available. I may make some enclosures for behind them so they sound better.
There are a number of good aftermarket speakers or mobile audio speaker kits available. The best pricing is usually through an online reseller like sonic electronics or similar. Look for speakers that have the correct impedance for your system (4 ohm, 8 ohm) and are built with materials that are weather impervious: Carbon fiber or polypropylene cones and magnesium or aluminum frames. FWIW, I have a set of CTX speakers in the truck (carbon fiber on magnesium frame) and the truck will be rusting out around those speakers.
Ay US Speaker, linked to above, some of the Faital Pro speakers are weatherproof. The little 3" wide-range speaker for $19.95 is a sleeper. - GordonThreeExplorer
