Better way to change rear fuel filter on 2016 Cummins?

I've done it twice now and always get a lot of fuel pouring out when I loosen the filter. I open the drain prior as required, but it seems a lot of fuel remains somewhere.

BTW, don't have a lift, can only do it on my back on the ground.
