Better way to change rear fuel filter on 2016 Cummins?

Does anyone know a better way to change the rear fuel filter (water separator) on a new generation Cummins without getting showered with diesel fuel? I've done it twice now and always get a lot of ...

I piece of clean plastic hose that fits rear filter bib, slides inside the hose front hose. Have a jar or bucket to catch the diesel. Put it with a light used engine oil for magic fire starter. Chris
