Bigfoot news....

Truck Camper Magazine has a good write-up on Bigfoot. New product coming. It is under the "news" heading.
  • I really liked our 2003 10.6 Bigfoot camper. The quality of the camper interior was the best I have seen quality wise. Interesting to see that a slide model is planned. They used to have a 3000 model with a slide but only for a while.

The 2500 is a nice camper but was a little small for us with our dogs.
  • Looking at the 1500 and 2500 series floor plans, I see that the cabover bed is only 74" long.

    I can't remember any other full size, hardside TC that doesn't have a 60 x 80 bed.

I'm 75" long, so while BF might have some great features, my feet hanging off the end of the bed isn't on my must haves list.

And even their TTs have smaller (and in some cases narrower) than full size beds.

Does BF have some aversion to full sized owners?

the Bigfoot 3000 series actually had 3 distinctly different slide models (slide size and location) and the article noted the special vacuum press used to make their patented panel assemblies is still in the plant if they produce them again I would be the first in line. their winter performance is/was superior to all other tc's by miles

I know the Bigfoot ceiling height is lower than many other brands. I felt like I had to stoop to avoid AC and light fixtures.
  • The Bigfoot 3000 was built differently than the 1500/2500, more like a conventional camper, not two piece clamshell. If they go back to that some of the advantage of the Bigfoot is lost in my opinion. I am sure they are feeling left out of the slide craze though.

Edit: I see from the article he is talking about a slide in the clamshell 2500.

I believe that BF is using the same molds that they had before they went belly-up.....they just reacquired them, at least that's what I surmised from reading the TCM article. When I drove to a dealership to look a new 9.4SB in 2007, the reason I didn't buy it was because of the short queen bed, the inability to store my Honda 2000 in an outside compartment and the god-awful rear steps, so I passed and bought my AF811.

I haven't seen the new generation BF, but in reality maybe not much has changed.
    I don't know........
  • TxGearhead, almost every manufacturer has a new product coming. What's the point of this thread? ;)
  • ^^Did you go to the Truck Camper Magazine website and read the article?
They will be building a slide model in the 2500 series.

This is true. The Bigfoot 2500 is very small inside. We ordered ours without AC and I am 6-3 and just fit to the ceiling barefoot. I tend to sleep on my side with legs curved. Even with that the bed is smallish.

Those are some reasons I wonder how/if they can make a decent revival re-utilizing their current floor plans and clam molds. It's a really cool concept and their executions was good. The interior appointments were well done but with such a large investment in molds it seems to give less flexibility to change compared to framed campers.

In any case I hope they make another round in the camper ring and look forward to seeing what they come up with for new models.
