As everyone said, it is not too much of an issue with Fastguns or similar. I had the same problem with my current truck with an early 90's pop-up. One way to look on the good side of it is that the Fastguns in front of the fuel door is that it is like having a locking gas cap of sorts.
One thing to make sure of: be sure where you put that Fastgun when you take it off. I used to set it on top of the rear tire. "I won't forget about it there" I said to myself. Wrong! I drove off once (and it only took one time) and it fell down and I ran over it.
The fastguns are very sturdy! It only bent the handle but they kept on a working and I stil use them today. After that episode I put it on the driver's side florr so I would never duplicate that error.
I may call the company and see if I can get a replacement handle:
