Anyone using the aftermarket billet aluminum gas cap with o-ring on the later Ram Cummins trucks? Looks like a good idea to replace the little red plastic cap which can blow away if you set it on the tonneau cover!They're all over Amazon and Ebay

I got one from Amazon for $15-20 and I like it a lot. I kept the little red cap for a year or so but like you say it had a tendency to blow away in the wind. This one is magnetic so it sticks to the filler door while fueling, and I really think a cap is a good idea compared to capless.

Drill a hole in the plastic tab and tie it in with a string . Won't blow away. Easy fix.

Ram makes a plastic cap with a tether strap.Their cap fits snug and overlaps the outside lip of the fuel fill neck. If water gets on or near the cap it should run off the outside of the fuel fill neck.The aluminum caps look better. I have read of people needing a different size o-ring to make it fit better. Some ship with three o-rings. It really isn't a cap, it is a plug. If the o-ring does not fit snug, water that gets on the cap could still get into the fill neck. I know, there is a second flap in the fill neck to divert water, but I prefer to not depend on it.Mopar 82214609 Non-Locking Gas Cap (Diesel)

I recently came across a locking version at Geno's Garage but it $55. They also have one for DEF that uses the same key

Got mine today and installed it; it fits and looks great!

Love mine. The fit is nice, here in WI we pump our own fuel so losing the cap would be on me. I saved the "cheap" red plastic cap that came with my truck just in case. :B

Lost mine like that. In Oregon the pump guy opened door n placed cap on my toolbox instead of inside door. I said I will pump and I forgot about the cap. So my OE Mopar cap is a keeper!

And works like a champ, have had mine for 3 years. A four dollar investment is about all its worth considering why its there in the first place.

I bought the billet but the O ring swelled up and it makes it hard to take on and off. This Idea sounds a lot better!

This is a plastic cap with a tether from Mopar. Cost is around 17 bucks.
