Boliy generator

anyone using a boliy 3000 watt generator. power to weight is amazing.
  • My Boliy died after 7 years of use. Over the past year or so it became more difficult to put a heavy load on it. Recently it wouldn't even power my camper's converter with discharged batteries. Engine ran fine and engine compression was like new but everytime I put a load greater than 400 watts on the engine, it died. A new carburetor and engine speed control did not fix the problem.

I got little support from bottomlinetrading.com and was disappointed that BLT stopped responding to my emails for support. Based on this, I can no longer recommend Boliy or bottomlinetrading.com I bought a new 3400 Champion inverter generator from another vendor and am amazed by how much better it is than my Boliy when new. It NEVER hiccups or stumbles even when I put a max load on it while in eco-mode.
  • I've owned one for over 6 years, a 3000W version - Pull cord start only. Got it used with very little use (only a year old).

No problems to date with the generator or electronics. IT only gets run a few times a year, but for 8-12 hours. It does sit a lot, but still starts and runs smooth. The one issue was self inflicted - broke the cotton starter cord, but had a local shop wind a longer one in with Nylon.

I like using it over the on-board Onan during fall tailgating since it's a ton quieter and easier on the gas. When we need AC (or full power) for hours on end, the Onan is run since we also use other power then and the Onan is just slightly bigger (4000W).
  • I bought the Boliy PRO3600SIER QBlue RV Pro 3700 Wireless Remote Start Generator during Amazon Prime Day last July for under $900 and I have loved it. I have a Montana 5th Wheel with two A/C units and a Coachmen Travel Trailer with one A/C unit and it runs any of them with no issues (one at a time). I can't tell you how long it runs as I have always refilled the 2-gallon tank every 5 to 6 hours.
The only maintenance issue I have had is that the manual pull start doesn't work. Since mine has the remote or electric key-start, it hasn't been an issue. Since it runs so well, I haven't wanted to risk returning it under warranty and will just fix it myself when the warranty expires.
The generators Amazon sells are blue, and they also have them without the remote start. Very quiet compared to my Coleman Powermate Generator.

  • bought one the other day have a dealer here in town and they told me if anything goes wrong bring it back to them and they will make it right. two of my buds work there they said they sold lots and the only one they have probs with was one a gent who used it to run his camp 24/7 all winter and it burnt the muffler out
  • The line has been out almost 10 years. Considering there is very little information about them, I'd pass considering most people use a generator when they really need them to work.
  • I have a friend that has one and it has performed as good as my Honda. If I were to get a new one it would be a Boliy based on the cost and weight difference. I have heard good things about the support at Bottom Line trading.

I've never owned a Boliy. I noticed a few years ago, on the forum, they were getting popular.
But, I have not seen them mentioned lately. It appears to me, many either go with Honda or Yamaha.
Champion is the next most popular.

    And, maybe I'm wrong again.

I almost picked one up at I think Costco a couple years back. After reading many negative reviews echoing what Bedlam said, we opted to go with the Honda. It hasn't so much as hiccupped. I'm good with that AND the extra $400 (or whatever it was) that it cost me.

  • It appears to be a Yamaha knock-off, but support is lacking when things break. Quality control is lacking in many of the Chinese imports, so you have to decide if the discount is worth your time fixing or to spend more money with less down time.
