When I bought my present TT, I did just that.
There were no Sabre dealers in AZ, and no other builder made anything close to it(still don't).
I found a used Sabre 5ver locally that I looked at just to see how it was built.
I liked it, so I then started a nationwide search for one exactly how I wanted it.
All American Coach in Sylvania Ohio had the best price, and would order it for me.
After I ordered over the phone, they called me back and said they had a unit that had just been built at the Factory (200 miles from them) and it had everything I wanted, and a couple of things I had not ordered. An air bed, and power jacks. They would sell me that at the same price as an ordered unit, and it was available in a few days.
So a road trip was in order, 2500 miles one way.
I did check them out with the BBB before making the deal. I financed it thru my credit union... This made the deal really smooth, as they handled all of the interstate details, even getting me the plates before I left to get it.
It was the best transaction I have ever done. The unit being brand new, did not have a bent rim or something... It was brand new.
I found one small issue with a gas strut under the bed which was fixed as I did the rest of the walk thru.
I say do your due diligence then, go for it.
