The "R" stands for rating and that is the max weight for any of the particular items we are concerned with.
You want to make sure that you stay at or under the "rating" weight because well... that's what it is rated for.
At one point a while back we had a factory rep doing a training class for the sales here at the dealership and he even went as far as saying that a 10% increase over the rating could result in a drastic 50% decrease in lifespan. Point is - don't take the ratings for granted. They are there for a reason and most of it is safety.
