Camper on a lifted truck

I have ordered a new 2014 F350 4x4 short bed and plan to install a 6 inch suspension lift and want some feedback on the its impact to hauling a truck camper. I understand that it will raise the overall height of the setup possibly negatively effecting stability.
If I do purchase a camper it would be a popup like the Hallmark.
Lastly, if anyone has a setup like I have described, I would like to see a picture of it.
I really appreciate any feedback on the subject.

  • Go with 4", any bigger creates all sorts of extra suspension, drive shaft, fender, etc problems, costing thousands, though anything can be done for $'s. Be careful, research, think and good luck

    Does lift kit void warranty?

It could for certain things depending on the Dealer. Steering linkage, U joints, etc could very well be denied on a lifted truck. But would have no effect on other components.

There are lift kits available for your truck ranging from a few hundred $ to a few thousand. You will get what you pay for.

I chose BDS and am very happy. I went with a 4" lift with 35" Toyos and have not had any clearance issues and still handles very respectable on the road.

The 4inch was what I was thinking also. I like the look of the six but it is pushing it in my mind for a camper.
    Thanks for the feedback.
  • IMO, I would follow DJ's lead and go with the 4" lift as a great compromise. I've seen DJ's rig and it is NICE. :C
  • I like the looks of a lifted truck. However if I wanted to haul any type of a top heavy load{tc for example} I probally would not lift it. After several years hauling a 9.5' hardside on a f-250 ford without any extra lift but with every supension mod I could come up with I was never quite satisfied with the stability.I could just see myself in an emergency siutation with blown rear tire or other evasive maneuver.Personally I like my rig to handle and drive as well as I can make it.I now have a non lifted dodge 3500 drw with a popup alaskan and it drives perfect without any noticable top heavy issues. My wife loves and enjoys driving it, she feels safer and more cofident. Just my 2 cents worth.

Not mine but I did see this lifted ford around New Orleans last year.

    Thank you for the pic.
I know there are issues to deal with on a lifted truck but thought I too had seen it done.
    Again, thanks for the feedback.
