On the 1999 Lance 1030 that I repaired (Front overhang, wings, and rear around the bumper) I used a 4" wide metal drywall knife and carefully separated the fiberglass from the luan panel.

Dose anybody have a thread that shows how to remove the fiberglass panels so you can reuse them? or a repair job on the wood with fiberglass sides? thanks for all the help and input guys.

Remove rotten wood until you reach good wood. Fabricate replacement pieces. Dowels, glue, screw, gusset, etc. to guarantee a solid repair.

Been there, done that. Everything still holding 5 years later. (Cousins 1999 Lance 1030).

The plan is to remove the two back jacks, one at a time if possible but I think both will have to come off to repair rotten wood under the outer fiberglass in the back. I looked but did not find a thread about redoing rotten wood behind jacks.

seems to me that is sorta what he is going to do. perhaps remove one jack at a time or was he going to pull them all off at once?

I modified a front and a rear jack on my camper and did it with the camper sitting in the box of the truck. If that was not feasible I would support only one quarter of the truck at a time with a stand and use the existing camper jacks on the other 3 corners.

Well they turned out pretty good. I put all the weight on them and they seem solid. I will keep jacks down but no weight on them for the next day or two. I will start repairs next week.

Thanks for all the input guys and gals.I started thinking about how waterbeds are supported they do the same thing to hold 1800 lb plus with thin cheap ply. I feel comfortable with this setup. I will be making these today with 3/4" ply today and using a sheet of ply on top to set camper down on. I will also use a set of jack stands and 4x4 as back up. I will take pics of this project and the repairs to come.

I always kept a pair of the old suicide jacks (cable) around for such things. Seems like most truck campers I owned needed some kind of jack work at some point and the old cable jacks filled in perfectly.
