Campgrounds Reno Nevada

I was just wondering what is the best campground in Reno Nevada you have visited. We have a TT approx 30' and two dogs. Thank you for your assistance. Happy Trails.
  • I am not sure if the Mount Rose campground is open. It was closed all last year - unsure of the reason. The Sparks Marina isn't beautiful, but it is fine. The Grand Sierra is a bit more centrally located but it really depends on what you want to be close to.
  • Reno/Sparks can be pretty awesome. Lots of festivals in both, can't beat the rib cook off in Sparks. Hot August Nights, Reno Air Races, Balloon Races, Riverwalk area.
Having said that, the beauty of Tahoe is legendary. Here's a great between the two spot near the summit of Mt. Rose:

Perhaps the OP will return and explain himself. ;)
  • A little northwest of Reno there are quite a few forest Service campgrounds along, lakes, creeks and rivers. I can't recall any campgrounds in the Reno basin, but quite a few RV Parks.
  • You are with in an hour of Lake Tahoe...

WHY would you WANT to stay in Reno?

Even 30 min west on 80, one can find a number of reservoirs that are not Reno, I'm sorry if that is where you HAVE to be, make the best of it... But get out of Reno/sparks there is beauty near that doesn't involve desert.

You'll probably get more response if you post this message in the "RV Parks, National Parks, State Campgrounds & More " section and not in the "Trailers" section.

    Happy trails,
  • Two are right on the Truckee River: Rivers Edge RV park (actually in Sparks, NV), and which also has access to a nice river front trail, and just across the river is the Grand Sierra Hotel & Casino which also has an RV park with more limited access to a river trail. The sites at the Casino look through a cyclone fence to see the river, whereas the riverfront sites at Rivers Edge have better river views. Rivers Edge doesn't like dogs to poop anywhere in the park except the river trail area, but what they didn't know didn't hurt them as we always pick up. The Casino RV park has actual dog parks available. Grand Sierra has a really nice buffet restuarant, along with 3 or 4 other eating places inside.
