Got a second email welcoming us and our DS, but NO PETS. Thanks anyway. Due to an assortment of issues, we need to rid ourselves of as much maintenance as possible, have a wide variety of activities available within easy reach and scale down considerably. This lifestyle appeals to us at this point in our lives.
We do have a yearly trek to FL for spring training. You would need to know our DS and his limitations to fully understand the tremendous value of this. We have a AA team here that was a Chi affiliate that started in '98. We're now affiliated with Seattle. We/now just HE has had season tickets since the first game and missed only a 3 or 4 games in all these years and it was due to his health issues. When it became crucial that he not try to go down to "his" seat, we suggested that he move up. Not gonna happen! It took the team GM, broadcaster and another buddy to visit him in the hospital and TELL him that he was not sitting in row 10 any longer and was moving up. Guess you can tell who's opinion carries the weight. That's a lot of baseball, but we don't know that he'll be with us as long as most have their children. So if living in Lakeland gives us all what we need, so be it. Camping only during the month or so of spring training would only mean that we had more work to deal with when we got home. Nice idea, but won't work. DH has said on many occasions that he's not up to the maintenance here. DS cannot do all he did when we moved here 22 years ago, so guess who's left. We've had goats and loved every minute - no horses. We've had/got acreage and it needs to go. We've had the larger and now too large for us house, and it needs a new family to love it. The minimal life is what we need now. I know some can't imagine it, but it's a tremendous stress reliever and gives you time to be doing other things than working at maintaining. Time for fun in our lives...we're not getting any younger. We have no other family to call on for help...well, we do have DS#2, but that's another story. No help there. Born and raised in SO CA and don't need beaches, but if we want a little day trip it's very doable. So Lakeland it is, our 4 pooches are welcome, it's important. And I do appreciate the suggestions.
