Camping in FL
We're seriously contemplating a move to Lakeland, FL. Know summers are a bit on the toasty size, but what is a reasonable amount of the year when you can comfortably camp. We have several side-issue...

It should not be a issue if you have reservations. You might not be aware that if you have reservations and are going to arrive late, call the park, and they will give you a code to get in.
From the Florida State Park website: "If you plan to arrive after sunset, call the park before 5:00 p.m. local time for the gate combination."
You're right, if you plan ahead there will be no problem. Trouble is we don't do much of that. I used to live in FL so you'd think I'd remember, but we don't come this way often. So, the first night here is always "Oh yeah, the gates". But that's why God invented WalMart parking lots, right?
Just FYI, we left home (and the cold and rain) on Christmas day with no plans or reservations in FL. Spent the first night in a WalMart parking lot, one night in Everglades NP, two nights at Long Key SP, one night at Collier-Seminole SP, and tonight will be at Falling Waters SP. We snagged cancellations at Long Key and Falling Waters, the rest have been luck.
