We are looking at camping at a local state park, Lucust Lake in PA. There is only an electric hookup available with hydrants for water. I assume I can fill my potable water tank there. What kind of portable water tank should I invest in to refill the tank without unhooking? Will I need some kind of pump? Pardon my newbie questions. This is our first camper and my previous camping was always with full hookups with my parents and in-laws.
Are you saying you can't stop your rig in front of that hydrant, hook a hose up to it, fill up your tank and go park your TT? Or does the hydrant not have a normal hose connection?
If you can't use that hydrant with a hose, call the office for that state park and ask them where the nearest place is that you can fill up your TT water tank. If it's not too far, you can stop by and fill up before rolling into the park.
I've called our state park office before and they directed me to a local market/gas station that offers free water (about 2 miles from the park entrance). They also said I could fill up at their district office but it was further than the market. Filled up there and drove to my campsite with a full tank.
Of course I've had situations with no water at all and luckily had water for drinking and pulled water from a creek with a 5 gallon bucket and used that for the toilet and washing hands.
