Yoly and I were visiting family in Walnut Creek, California a couple years ago. We were traveling with a 26 foot travel trailer at the time. Yoly's brother mentioned that we might need a permit to park the trailer in front of their house (we would not be sleeping in it). We sent the city an email a few days prior with the request and they emailed a permit back to us the next day. When we got to the house, we printed the permit and placed it in the truck's windshield. No problems whatsoever :-)
I have the same experience in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I asked for 24-hour permit because my son and his family wants to experience RV sleeping for the new trailer.
Within 5 minutes, I got a response on line giving a permit for 72 hrs. The trailer was rigged for shore power and the a/c was turned-on overnight and obviously with someone sleeping on it.
