Not true. Not even true for your homestate of California. I verified with the police in Mill Valley, CA. A vehicle is considered abandoned if it is left on public property for over 30 days. Before the 30 days are up, the vehicle needs to be moved a short distance. I believe that is 0.3 miles. Then the clock starts again.
When the law can be different in different jurisdiction, I never heard about 30 days.
