City of Grants Pass OR

Parked at moms this Christmas and visited untill bedtime. Spent the night in the camper and learned today that is NOT ok.

Not sure what we will do now though it seems if we unplug and run the slide in they may ignore us.
  • Boy am I glad I don't live in town, any town. You can come camp in my backyard anytime you want to, I even have hookups and sewer...lol

When our friends visit, they always bring their TC and park in the backyard. Had Class A's back there too.

Ain't no body's business far as I'm concerned.

We wanted to be close to our aging parents who do not room for us. We aren't camping just sleeping in the camper.

We were told we could use the camper in any way we wanted, just not for sleep.

We were also told if we unplugged and ran the slide in they could argue we weren't camping.

Either way the paper came to interview me and informed the city has to change their ordinance due to a recent lawsuit but the law is for vagrants not someone visiting family it's just local enforcement not taking anything into consideration.

Was this just a Christmas Visit or something long term?
If long term I understand the enforcement, try finding an RV park nearby that has monthly rates.
  • Our town has the same ordinance. Ok to park it on my lot, just can’t sleep in it. While I’m sympathetic to your situation, I agree with this particular law. Seems like they’re willing to work with you, so I’m not sure I’d want something written in the paper.

Ya they have a 72 hr policy on parking large vehicles.

Local paper is doing a story so will be interesting
  • Some cities have 48-72 hours permitted limits to parking in the curb in residential area.

Regs will say if sleeping is not allowed. Common rule is that if don't explicit say it's prohibited, then it is allowed.

Of course, slide in, no BBQ, camper chairs, awning... lol
