- steve-n-vickiExplorerI used my pressure washer
- Campfire_TimeExplorerI'll throw in another thought. Some folks here recommended mixtures with bleach. Don't do that. I used to use a similar mixture on our old trailer's awning. After a few years the threading on the edge of the awning started breaking down. When I noticed that is when I started using generic OxyClean.
- MinnCamperExplorerX3 - Magic Eraser.
- JD_and_BeastletExplorerCleaning products aside, I really like the idea of spraying it then rolling it up for half an hour to soak.
- DutchmenSportExplorerI use ONLY Mr. Clean Magic Erasers on my awning. Been using them for years and years now.
Make the eraser good and wet, but not dripping. Wipe the awning in small areas. Follow with a dry cloth. Move on to the next small area.
If the first wipe does not get it all, then wipe a second time. Do not scrub, just wipe. The gunk will melt off.
And the chemicals left on the awning will prevent new black spots from forming. It won't keep bugs off, so every now and then, a slight touch up to remove dead bugs. But that's all.
Remember, do not scrub, just wipe. Awning will look new when your done.
Same as the a msb1766 said about the top; use a long handled brush to push the eraser around on the top side. I use a painters wand with one of those fluffy RV brushes. I make the eraser dripping wet when doing the top.
And ... I always clean my awning when camping. Never at home.
I just did mine last week-end. Won't have to touch it again for months now, unless a bug gets rolled up in it. - MikesrExplorerI've always used the spray mold and mildew cleaner
But now I'm thinking about trying this stuff
Diluted of course - RumtanExplorerThee reason I ask is because I really dont want to wreck the awning by it drying and cracking, but I would love to get it cleaner than it is now.
- msb1766ExplorerI use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on mine a few years ago and wow, Got off all the stubborn spot and it look like new. Did the same with the top side of the awning also.
To do the top I used a few rubber bands to hold them on a stiff brush with a long handle. - Campfire_TimeExplorerI use a mixture of generic OxyCLean and hot water with a brush on a wand.
- OasisbobExplorerLots of opinions here. Go with something mild. Simple Green is a good choice. I have learned bleach and bleach products tend to dry out the material and make it brittle and prone to stiffness and cracking. If you can never put it away wet. Prevention is key
