That airstream has got to be one of the smallest floor plans they sell , or close to it... tow away and Happy Camping!!
That`s what I thought. It`s nice to see a car company showing you can tow something other than 10k lbs of dead weight on a flatbed trailer at 65mph up a hill! good for Lexus for dipping into the RV`ing side of towing. not many do! - DutchmenSportExplorerI cannot see the image/video or whatever as I'm at work right now and it's blocked, but ....
My sister and brother-in-law towed a Sea Ray speed boat with their Lexus. He had air bags installed on the rear of the car, and he never had problems towing.
Then one day ... well ... he was a speed demon (they lived in Texas between Dallas and Fort Worth) ... and the car and boat are "no more". The only thing that saved them was the semi-truck beside them that keep them from flipping over. - That airstream has got to be one of the smallest floor plans they sell , or close to it... tow away and Happy Camping!!
- Me_AgainExplorer IIIWTF? No weight distribution hitch/bars or sway control! Kind of a bad example to give in a commercial!!!! I have seen a couple SUV bumper pull crashes were it appears that trailer sway caused the crash.
Wife's 2004 AWD Buick Rainier 5.3 V8(AKA Trailblazer) is rated to tow 6500 lbs. No way would I want to do that with it's short 'turn on a dime' wheelbase on a dead weight hitch! At least it is one of the last body on frame small SUV's!
Chris - blt2skiModeratorTHen if you get pulled over by the REAL WT POLICE, they do not give a rats rear end if you are under or over you manufactures ratings, they only care that you are not over max per axle/tire width so you are not damaging the road bed! So the RV.net wt police vs real wt police are enforcing two different things, one is ticketable, the other not. And even if one is OVER the max axel rating, the wt police can not stop you per say from continuing on your way!
Oh, I see nothing wrong with a lexus towing an Airstream. Probably one of the best ball mount towing RV trailers out there.

Why not? For all you weight police:
Lexus GX tow ratings 6500 #
The SEVEN, count them, SEVEN, smaller Airstreams are UNDER 6500# GVWR!
The smallest is 3500#!
So, why is it so TERRIBLE to tow WITHIN ratings?
I thought you all WANTED people to be within ratings?
Good for you, that's telling it like it is... Some people get these crazy ideas that you can't pull anything unless you have same truck as they do!
My father full timed for 20+ years; he had an F150 Camper special, towed a 38' alumalite fifth wheel for 250,000 miles. He never had an accident, until the wheel fell of the trailer and hit another car. (the hub broke off at the axel)
We bought a 1964 Airstream 26', two axle. The older ones were lighter. It was in the 6000# loaded range. Towed it all over with a 3/4 ton van conversion, very nicely, thank you.
That two axle, 26' Airstream would be WITHIN the Lexus Two Specs! It had twin bunk beds, with a couch/bed in front. We had three kids, worked GREAT for us, Loved that trailer.
The "weight Police" would have gone NUTS with a Lexus towing that, yet is is WITHIN specs.
X4
Some only think a EB F150 is good for light weight towing. Daughters 06 Ridgeline has a 5,000# tow rating, and tow that from Portland to Bolder, CO with out issue. - camp-n-familyExplorer
