Comparison of Different Types of Tank Flushers

The video gives insight into how the flusher work however it is too generic to be really useful do to the various tank configurations.
You don't have to be obsessed to clean your tanks, periodically back flushing is a good idea however you should understand the tank will never be spotless once put into use.

I installed the tornado in my tank, I dump, rinse it for a few min. drain and im done. When I get home I do the geo thing. Theres more to life than the black tank. P.S. I do not use the hazmat garb that I see alot!

I believe the dimensions of the tank were modeled after the tank in his Class B. The more rectangular ones. In a follow up video he found a couple of other random Class C's (I believe) and measured the height of their tanks. He was within 1.5 inches on the height.

JMO, but I think what happens out there is that there are many configurations and dimensions of black tanks and unless you've had to deal with one of the "difficult" ones, you won't know what it's like.

On our first TT we never, ever had an issue with dumping or false readings. It had more of a cube shape with drain more in the center (as opposed to an end). If you look at the diagram above, there's only about 4 1/2" from our toilet to tank bottom. Doesn't take much poop there to block more from getting in and the poop doesn't magically dissolve or flow around. With our current TT, unless I make a real effort to clean it as thoroughly as possible, it builds up the poop pyramid quickly. I know someone who has the same TT as us and has the same issue.

I don't clean ours because of residual effluent or odor, it's to minimize false readings and make the most room available for it's next use. I'm sure some can't take the thought of something remaining in the tank because of odor and sanitary reasons.

I have seen the above videos in the past and have reached the conclusion that although these tank flushers and the pipe-mounted feedback rinser do help somewhat, but not to the extent I would prefer. We don't fret about it if we plan to keep camping.

After running our tank-mounted rinser for a few minutes and letting it drain it does appear that the majority of the tank solids have been removed. At least from our experience that isn't the reality of it with sensors still showing full in most cases.

If we really want the tank and sensors clean I go back and use a tank wand and it is amazing what is left after using our tank-mounted flusher. Don't do it every time, but if we are planning to let rig sit unused for awhile we use wand, sensors always show empty afterwards.

Nobody pays ANY attention to their S&B waste drain lines yet will spend several minutes and gallons of water rinsing/flushing RV waste tanks and/or use chemicals or special mix of ingredients to clean & mask smells.

Then go poop :B

I use a wand - does this mean I'm obsessed? I don't want solids in my tank while the TT sits in storage so I hose it out. Where is the obsession in that? And there is really no comparison to a S&B waste drain line - it doesn't hold anything - it drains. :P Smiley in case you think I'm being combative.

Our tank is 32 gallon and only a few inches tall below the toilet. The dwg. below shows one 32 gallon dimension (there are several configurations available in tanks for the same volume). With these shallow tanks, it doesn't take very long to build up a pyramid of poop which takes some work to get flushed out with our built-in rinser.

With the tall tank he uses, you'll get a faster rush of water when the valve is initially opened compared to what many tanks are actually like.

Another thing with shallow tanks is that it is hard to clean the sensors well enough to prevent false readings. I usually let our flusher run for 5-10 minutes to get the tank bottom clean (can see tank bottom thru our toilet).

Am looking forward to seeing his vid on how effective various chemicals are.
