Air pressure is at 70 psi for rear and 50 psi in front. 2001 F250 5.4 crew cab RWD.
I see two issues that can cause the conditions you mention.
One is just like robose1 says some new tires to be broke in first.
The second is like other mentioned ...air pressure...especially that 70 psi in the rears with no load on the truck. The rear tires are riding the centers on new tread, so sure the truck will handle badly.
Now combine the two and your gonna' have a squirrly handling truck.
My 2500 Dodge/Cummins came with LT265/70-17 E. The door sticker says 50 psi in the front and 70 psi in the rear. The truck drove like a drunk hog on ice and was wearing the outside edges on the front tires.
I found 65 works best in the front under the Cummins and 45 psi in the rears. Truck then drove like it should when empty.
I will try lowering the pressure. Thanks for great advice.
Yep...that 70# in rear is OK if hauling/towing but when running empty it is too high.
I run 45# in rear empty and 80# when towing my 5vr.
65# in front all time due to weight on front axle
