Cost to repair a slide?

We have a 2012 Primetime tracer 2800rld. It has a super slide that uses the accuslide mechanism made by Norco. It consist of 4 steel cables that move the slide back and forth. One of the cables looks to have stretched and sags several inches causing the room to not want to retract. One time when taking the slide out a door on the entertainment center got caught on the slide causing a jam. I think this is what caused the cable to stretch. Has anyone ever taken their tt to the dealer to get a similar repair made, if so what was the cost? Our dealer is 80 mile away and I'm very afraid the cost might be LARGE> Norco industries has a video online that shows how to repair it, but sometimes on these difficult repairs we sometimes make it worse when we attempt to do the repairs.   • It sounds like an adjustment to me, but I am not a technician. We had a similar issue with an earlier trailer, and they had to do some adjustments. It was covered under warranty.

    I bet the slide mechanism has a better warranty than the trailer itself. Most of the major components have longer warranties than the initial trailer warranty.
  • Just had my 2009 in for the first time to have an adjustment made on the large slide. We had one cable the stretched too much to adjust and had to buy a replacement cable kit $36, just to get the parts out of it for the tech to cut the cable and make it shorter. $270 with labor. Before you do that bring the slide in about a foot and climb up a ladder and look around. Pay close attention to the bolts holding the pulleys to the wall. We had one stripping out. Also look at the cables for excess slack. Might just be one of the adjusters backed out.
  • just my opinion a slide is a pain in the butt.more trouble than it could ever be worth.
  • Your trailer is too new for the cables to stretch that much. You must have caught the slide and loosened something in the mechanism. Accuslide systems use aircraft quality SS cables. Should be an east fix for a dealer to make.

  • If you can get to the cables very easy to adjust The accuslide uses 8 cables and 2 chains read up on it it is a give and take system when tightening up a cable make sure the oppsosing cable has slack, As stated before if you take it to the dealer make sure the techs know how to work on the accuslide system.

  • I think the chance of a cable "stretching is very slim. I bet the tension adjustments just worked loose. The last thing I would do is take it to the dealer to fix without first quizzing them on their expertise. Too many "technicians" just dive in with wrenches, hammers, and dumb luck hoping for a fix. They often are on a big learning curve at your expense.
  • I doubt a cable actually stretched as it would take a huge amount of force to do that. It's more likely it popped off a pulley or moved where it is mounted at either end. In any case, I don't think it would be a "large" cost to repair it unless a major component actually broke and had to be replaced. That also depends on your definition of "large". Just a wild guess it would maybe cost $100-$200 to repair?

    As a side note, I looked at the Norco Accuslide online service manual and I am impressed with the detail, photos, and repair procedure description. It seems far better than you usually get in the RV industry. If you take it back to the dealer mention the great online service manual so they are aware of it. It might seem ridiculous that a dealer wouldn't have the proper service instructions, but based on my contact with some dealers its entirely possible. Some dealer service guys just "dig in" without proper checking of the manufacturers service info and then use up a lot of hours($$) learning how to fix it the hard way.

  • Have you tried adjusting the tension on the cables? The cable ends should have a threaded bolt for adjusting. Here is a link to some PDF files that should help Link to PDF
