Anyone ever actually add up what it costs to setup a new truck? I just added up my receipts and wow it's over 2K. I would have guessed closer to 1K. SuperHitch $771.00Front Tie Down $254.40Rear Tie Down $205.57Fast Guns $507.52Fast Gun Locks $47.74Stable loads(lower)$196.12Stable Loads(upper) $174.24Torklift capping kit $27.80 Total $2184.39I have not yet decided if I need airbags like I have on my old truck but I am guessing the Stableloads will take care of it. I also just purchased two curt reciever tubes, two hitch bars, four rv plugs, 7way wire and some hardware to build a hitch extension. Also built a removable full width trailer flap that cost about $150 to build but that's not really camper related. Add in a $47,000 truck and I think I better go work some O/T.

Seems about right. Add 2k for tires and $400 for air bags and your pushing just about 5k.

I cheated did not get rid of my 19.5 wheels and tires in case I go back to a T/C. But loving the Chevy Kodiak C5500 so if I do go back with a T/C it will be the Big triple slide and mount it on back of the Kodiak.

I had a 2011 Chevy 3500 SRW and bought a new 2015 Chevy 3500 SRW.

My Rickson 19.5 tires and rims fit my new trucks fine. With the help of a grinder the Torklift tie downs fit also. My stable loads bolted right on also.

So to answer your question, the only cost to set up my new 2015 truck was a sheet of plywood, but that 2011 truck sure was expensive to set up.

I modified and re-used a set of Torklift tie downs on the front and added a SuperHitch on the back. I built my own tie downs that attached to the SuperHitch.

I already had the Fastguns.

My truck came from the factory with a 7 pin connector installed in the bed.

I bought a set of StableLoads because I didn't take time to remove them from my 2008.

Low cost.

As far as a comment about "you bought the wrong truck" I did use ratchet straps to carry my first used TC 700 miles from the dealer to home. The truck tail lights were visible so no extra charges there.

i went to price out a pair of supersprings for the soon to come new camper, $900 installed at custom truck parts.i don't think so. i'll shop around online and install myself.new fastguns from atlas is around 500 and i'll be ready to go.

Crumm, are you using after market rims/wheels on your 285's? I was looking at 295/65/18 Wrangler Duratracs (3,860 lbs), but wasn't sure if I needed to go with a new rim or stay with the factory rims.

And you're correct... my 2015 Ford has the camper package but I still added the following and I'm not finished...

All we needed was new torklift tiedowns at about $400.
We can reuse the wiring and solenoid from my last truck
Bedmat from last truck fits
OEM shocks do not need replacing
OEM tires and wheels do not need replacing
I don't tow so nothing needed there
Springs do not need enhancing

My point is if you buy a new truck then need to add Thousands to make it work then you bought the wrong truck.
