Cushions

Hi, The foam rubber in my 20 year old TT cushions is wore out. There are zippers on the fabric coverings so I can replace the foam. I do have a gaucho type couch and that would require a custom made foam rubber cushion for that one. I looked around on the web a little but, am still not sure where to buy foam replacements that are made of the right material? Any suggestions ? Thank you.
  • Just be sure to get a high density foam. At Joann's it is usually the green colored foam versus the white. It is more money but will hold up better. Cut the foam as stated with an electric knife. You may have to then wrap it a little in Saran wrap to get it to slide nicely into the cushions. Money well spent to be comfortable.
  • I've used Michael's coupons at joanne's also BUT that might night apply to fabric as Michaels's doesn't do fabric or foam.

    I printed the coupon, Thanks

  • Thanks for the help. I'll look into the options. I'm about 70 miles from the nearest Joanne Fabrics so I may stop in there some day to ask. As for the Rochford Supply link westend gave me I may do that except I'm not sure how many blocks I need to buy. My couch is 2 chunks the bottom measures is 76X26 and the back measures 76X16. If I only do the bottoms of the dinette seats I would need 2 chunks both of which measure 36X24. So how many 24X72 inch blocks would I need to order to have enough to do all of that??? It's all 5 inches thick.
  • Charlie,
These folks are in Brooklyn Center, MN. I don't know what they charge for shipping but I bought my foam from them and they were the least expensive I could find: Rochford Supply. Foam comes in 24" x 72" blocks and you cut the foam with an electric carving knife or foam cutter and spray the two pieces with foam glue, push the glued edges together, and it is a new piece to your final size.

Good luck with the cushions. BTW, if you need material, they have a full line of very good material for cheap.
  • When our travel trailer cushions were getting worn out (the foam only), we took our coupon from Joanne Fabrics and got the foam at half price. We did have to cut it to size (bread knife worked). Worked well for us. STILL it was pricey but better than full price:B
  • You can try Joann Fabrics. They haveseveral different density foams cut to size. I bought foam for dinette seats a few years ago and think I paid around 40.

  • Foam is very expensive. I priced for our daughters tent trailer, 3 beds, couch and dinette, it was going to be over a thousand for new foam.

I would talk to your local RV dealer and ask who they use for their upholstery pieces. Ours told us of a place and she makes all the upholstered pieces for RV's and large rigs. It was a lot cheaper to buy from her.
  • I went to an upholstery shop to get foam for a single boat cushion and could not believe how expensive it was. Never again. There must be an online source or else look for good used replacement cushions.
