    Yup, I did..

  • On our old Ford I made a double extension by adding a second female hitch then a double tongue 30", towed 3k lbs all over Mexico without a problem. On our newer GMC(the one with the lousy factory hitch) I used a Reese due to cost, then added a chain/turnbuckle set to it. If flat towing a car I would get some of those clamps to make it more rigid and be very careful on curbs. The tubing is just 2"sq x1/4" wall stock available from the local steel supplier, but you need a real drill for the pin holes.
  • Grodyman, that's what I did. I also pull a small light trailer with a scooter on it and I took two extentions and instead of putting a pin in them I bolted them together and then welded them together. A little over kill, but I was going with the bolted together idea and it would have been fine I think, but it's always in the back of your mind that maybe I should have welded them together so I did. Put two eyes on the end and ran two chains back to my receiver hitch eyes. I weigh 325 and can stand on it without any problem..
  • I was thinking of buying a couple hitch extensions and welding them together to fit into the double receptacles on the Superhitch. I don't want to spend $400 on the Supertruss, but I like the Superhitch because it takes the rear tie downs.

I will probably go with a Reese Titan and extension for about $400 total, but if a cheap custom truss could be made for the Superhitch I may go that route.

No way will I pay $900 for a hitch and extension again.

  • Is this what you are interested in? I made it for my light weight canoe trailer.

  • I made my own extension to tow with the Lance 1010 on the truck. Do you weld?
