Def fluid in new Ram

When I purchased my new truck in November the salesman told me the DEF from the dealer was about 10 bucks a gallon but I could get it anywhere much cheaper. I get mine at auto parts store just because I don't mind paying a few dollars more and not having to go into a Walmart. I pay around 13 dollars for 2-1/2 gallons. $16 at Pilot.

Could you supply a picture of an expiration date on a label on a jug of DEF ????? I have yet to see an expiration date stated on a label. Have seen label dates at Walmart, don't know if thats when they received it or if it was manufactured on that date, but never any mention of expiration .

Here's what I'm talking about. On each jug, somewhere there should be a date stamped like on this jug of DEF I got from the dealer the day I picked up my new truck.

I too was waaaay over charged for my DEF! I was charged just under $63,000 for just one gallon. They did however throw in a 2015 RAM 3500 Laramie HO 385 hp Aisin trans with rear air suspension for "free". :B

Same here, full tank of fuel and DEF when I picked up my truck....(2 years ago, May 9th:)).

I am still at just over 3/4 talk DEF with 1,600 miles. So the Dealership really did fill mine to the top. Same with the fuel, it was a Full tank.

They are not necessarily overt. You may need to look for the stamp on the bottle. Kind of like salad dressing(or other food items). There is an expiration on the bottle but it is often difficult to find. Every brand or bottler may put the code in a different place.

Well considering Ram does not manufacture their engines in the diesel 2500 and up I don't know how they would be qualified state you must use their brand DEF. I would think the outsourced vendor would be better qualified on recommending what to use in their engines.

Jerks should have delivered your truck to you with full fuel tank AND full DEF tank...if you were showing 1/2 tank of DEF, you WERE low...These DEF gauges aren't very good...will show full for a LONG TIME....
