If Nissan and/or Toyota pair this diesel with a reasonable price tag and about 2000 lbs of payload they will have an absolute winner on their hands.
I really think that the Big 3 have gotten so wrapped up on the "Power Wars" that they have priced a lot of people out of the 3/4 and 1 ton market. The engines are getting bigger and stronger and more expensive and more complicated. In reality, the Cummins 5.0 will provide sufficient power to handle the towing needs of most 3/4 ton trucks. Its smaller, lighter, more efficient, etc.
Hopefully Toyota and Nissan take advantage of this engine and build a sufficient truck around it. Otherwise I see it being nothing more than a novelty...
