And the gasoline Ford F-250 would of course be much cheaper to buy as well as operate, particularly as a daily commute vehicle. If it is either impossible for a gas F-250 to tow a 13,000 pound 5th wheel across the Sierra Nevada at Lake Tahoe, or merely flat out insane to even try, feel free to hoot at me.
Given these quite conflicting uses for a tow vehicle (tow vs. daily commute), which do you recommend, and why?
If you are going to be using the vehicle as a daily driver, and need to tow (safely) I'd go with a V10 F250. The 5.4 isn't going to cut it at all.
If there was no daily commuting going on I'd say diesel FOR SURE. With that kind of weight in the mountains, you'll really, really appreciate the diesel.
If you must use a large diesel for a daily commuter then plan on changing your oil much more frequently.
Just my opinion. :)
