Diesel vs gas......................
OK folks, there have been a few to many diesel vs gas threads that have shall we say gone to "Hell and a hand basket"! So if all of you would put in you BEST, no flaming reasons for going gas vs diese...

Im a diesel advocate till the day I die and always tell people to buy them.
That being said, I cant tell many people to buy them anymore. They ask me if its worth it and I say no. Because 90% of the people will never see the benefit.
Just bought a 2011 Duramax for the farm $8,400 for the diesel option, diesel is the same price as premium gasoline so 20 to 30 cents more per gallon. Empty truck just driving around gets similar MPGs to the gas rig or worse in the case of the initial DPF trucks, the New SCR trucks are better across the board. Plus you have the cost of DEF ( yes the cummins will have it too and already does), the added cost of the oil, the large capacities of everything, the expensive filters and more frequent filter changes (fuel and transmission), and the cost of repairs which seem to be all to frequent on the new breed, and I feel like Im walking into an AA meeting with a case of beer.
Unless you need it for towing, its hard to justify. But who looks at that when buying a vehicle. If that was the case we would all drive cheap fuel efficient cars. Buy what you want, what you like and what you can afford.
