Why does diesel have to pay for itself? Does the dirt bike have to pay for itself? Does the Rhino have to pay for itself? How about the Razor or the golf cart or the Can-Am? Fact is, go for the diesel and add it to the cost of playing. You need to be privileged to even think about this, so go big or go home.
If we were talking about a daily driver, 5 miles each way and no highway, then a diesel would be a horrible choice. But alas...
