OK folks, there have been a few to many diesel vs gas threads that have shall we say gone to "Hell and a hand basket"! So if all of you would put in you BEST, no flaming reasons for going gas vs diese...

Please read and take note that the 6.7 ram 2500 with same weight trailer as the gas trucks had a much lower top speed at the top of the SAME HILL with the SAME TRAILER than the chevy 6.0 and ford 6.2 gas engines.
Also note that about halfway up the cummins ram nearly stopped accelerating. The ford and chevy gassers kept accelerating right up to the end of the hill. Had the hill been longer it would have been an even bigger gap for the gassers.
The 2010 6.7 ram has MORE POWER and MORE TORQUE than your 2005.
Yes the ram diesel did run a faster time from a dead stop on the hill due to it's low end torque helping to get it out of the hole. however we don't stop in the middle of hills if we can help it. we mostly approach steep climbs already at highway speed. So the ford and chevy gas trucks can hold speed and accelerate on grade better than the 2010 cummins ram. Since the 2010 has more power than your 2005 the ford and chevy should also be faster up a hill than your 2005.
This is controlled testing with proper instrumentation. Not your feeling of what tows fast.
My truck is not stock so this has nothing to do with it. I don't run 16% grades that are only 800' long. That test just proves take off speed of the gas over the diesel. Do that same test on a 2 mile run like running through the Rockies.
