Ok I gotcha. However, a 2003 Hemi powered 2500HD is identical to a 2005HD Hemi powered Ram except for the 5-45RFE programming. Same 345hp. On the $8000 difference, it depends on the argument. My experience has been, since diesels are almost exclusively the desired engine in a HD pickup, you can negotiate far more off of MSRP of a gasser than a comparable diesel powered HD pickup. The spread is actually "more" than the cost of the diesel option. Then the bragging point of used trucks is as much as $10k difference in used retail.
No hard feelings. I thought you were busting my O's about owning a gasser HD. And my apologies. I traded the Ram for an F250 almost three years ago. But yes, the Ram is a very good pickup truck gas or diesel. And the Cummins is without a doubt the best engine ever offered in a pickup truck even if it's not always the fastest. The 5.4L is almost like an electric motor. Smooth and quiet.
