Torque is a component of horsepower. Horsepower is the value that determines how fast we tow.;)
HP is the rate at which work is accomplished -> Work/Time. One definition of Work is Force x Distance.
So a high HP value can be accomplished by applying a large force over a very short distance for a given time period, or a small force over a very large distance for the same given time period...
Both of the above examples can have the same high HP numerical value, but only one scenerio will move the object fast while the other scenario will move the object very slowly...
Like I said, HP is the rate of energy consumption or delivery, and it is not defined exclusively by speed...
