I didn't mean to start a 6.0L debate esp on reliability or maintenance LOL!
I just wanted to post my comparison on fuel cost but I guess I opened up a can of worms mentioning the 6.0L. To talk about reliability and maintenance the seller I bought it from got 100K miles from it with just schedules maintenance and the seller before him another 100K miles. The seller also maintained a fleet of them for his landscaping business and his theory is keep them stock and keep the fluids fresh and that worked for him. It was running okay with me but had cold start issues that I didn't want to "get used to" so I went in and fixed all of that then added a few mods. I wanted a SUV and that limited me to this or the 7.3L but preferred the 5/6 speed auto trans and updated exterior and interior options so dealing with the 6.0L issues was something I was prepared to do. I've spent $ getting every TV I bought up to snuff so this wasn't any different just a little more technical and a few more $.
No can of worms, I chose not to go the 6.0 route. If someone with awareness of the issues and the ability to do the necessary modifications to make it reliable then I say go for it. There are some great 6.0 bargains out there.
I still feel compelled to warn the unknowing of the pit falls of the 6.0, not all fail, but to spend good money on 6.0 and six months later be faced with a $15,000 repair bill for a blown engine will put a sour taste in anyone's mouth.
