I don't think anyone in the history of this massive thread has ever questioned the core durability advantage of those large diesel engines. Everything else attached to the block breaks just as easily though.
Your statement about the power produced by the diesel being lower than the gasser is correct. Units of Displacement being equal, the power output of the diesel engine is less. :p
