I have posted this engine before. It is a 9 liter turbo gas engine, it is a factory produced engine with a warranty and runs on 91 octane pump gas. It is made to run high loads for very long lengths of time.
For those that think gas engines don't make big torque down low try 1300 ft lbs at 2200 rpm where this dyno pull begins.
Engine
Now remember a 9 liter gas engine fits easily in a pickup.
Do you diesel guys still think a diesel has a power advantage anywhere in the power band?
I don't understand the question - but I throw out an answer - yes, a C16 Cat making 2050lbs ft has a power advantange at 1200 rpm... the MTU diesel in a Leopard 2 tank has a power advantage over this engine... neither one fit in a dually pickup truck...
- but anyway - this engine would be perfect for a pickup truck dually tow vehicle wouldn't it? Shouldn't need no 11 speed automatic either ...
What is it's hp/hr per lb of gasoline output compared to a diesel engine of the same power characteristics?
i.e. if the truck and big fiver take 100 hp to maintain 60mph cruise speed on a level road, what mpg will this engine return producing that power?
And the big question - does it "need" 91 octane? Wouldn't it run on regular? (just kidding... I am one of those dummies that runs 91 octane if the book says use 91 octane...)
