DPF...
Strip your trucks of that junk...! that is If you can and are able to get away with that in whatever state you live. Nothing dumber IMO than adding emissions JUNK that does nothing but lower your mileage and the end result is that you burn more fuel. Seems kinda counter productive to me. And if I heard it right, you actually need to dump diesel into these things to burn all that crud too.!! Crazy.
But typical of Eco Zombies in Govt...more emissions control is better, yep and pigs can fly too.! LOL
Stk
Personally, I don't see the big deal with the DPF. You fill it every 6-7k miles (depending on how its driven) and forget it. My bone stock 2013 Duramax with roughly 8,500 miles on it is now getting 20 mpg highway/15 mpg city empty and 12.5 mpg towing our 6,000 lb. loaded camper.
And since this truck is no where near broke in yet, meaning the MPG should get better over time, I don't see where the regeneration of the particulate filter(which I have yet to notice) has had any huge impact on fuel mileage. At least not from what other guys are saying about their trucks.
As far as power, I sure don't feel like I'm missing anything. The only time I know that camper is back there is if I look in the mirror or stop at the gas station.
Our next camper will be 3,500-4,000 lbs. heavier when loaded than this one and I might change my mind...but I doubt it.
So do I void my factory warranty (plus my 10 year extended warranty) by trashing the DPF and putting a bunch of aftermarket stuff on my truck for another 1-2 mpg? For me it's a no brainer. But...it might not work out like that for the next guy.
