It may well pull it but for how long..?? Low torque, hi revs, gonna need a serious tranny cooler and so on and on.
Buying diesel is not going to break your bank, yes it is higher initial cost..but with decent regular fluid maintenance, it will out live a gasser 2 to 1.
Im now at 427,000 km. Not an issue with the motor or Transmission..nadda. simply wear parts that will also occur with a gas engined vehicle.
Gas mileage could be up to 25% or better than with a gas engine...hands down. I get on avg 13mpg pulling my 10k lbs 5th wheel...no BS there. You sure as hell wont see that with a gas powered truck...not even close.
Being able to pull easily up a 6% grade for 35km at 60mph...priceless.
I would never in a million yrs go back to a gas powered truck for towing...
