Diesel vs gas......................
OK folks, there have been a few to many diesel vs gas threads that have shall we say gone to "Hell and a hand basket"! So if all of you would put in you BEST, no flaming reasons for going gas vs diese...

As far as being tuned. I agree with the statement: "if done correctly"
But we have all seen the 18-25 yr old with a new to him diesel and just HAS to get it tuned. Using no research, will stack a canned programmer on top of another canned programmer and in 1/2 hour limp his trans.
For me the best investment I made in that regards was going with EFI Live - actually flashing my ECM with 5 tunes from a well known and respected programmer in the diesel community, (Idaho Rob). combined with an Edge Monitor and a DSP5 switch (5 position rotary switch for 4 tunes + 1 stock) - simply excellent and good for ~3.5 mpgs better than stock.
Nothing crazy;
Level 1 stock
L II ~25 hp (Econo)
L III ~40 hp (tow) This is where I run it most of the time.
L IV -65 hp (go quick)
L V 105 hp (go a lot quicker...quicker)
Am very happy with this. towing my 5th I have avg'd 12.7 mpg going from Calgary to the Shushwap and back...not too shabby as far as I am concerned.
Try that with a 6.0L or 8.0L Gasser and kindly let me know what you get for MPG's...??
