I am a convert.
I started posting in this thread a dozen years ago, when I had my tuned 8.1, and a giant camper in the back. In those days, my hotrod gasser could compete with any diesel.
Diesels now are hard to pass up. Once you delete the EGR/DPF/SCR, they are truly a joy to own. We upgraded to diesel when we owned the 29ft TT. I had a tuned 6.0 gasser, w 6 speed. Great truck, and I often miss it. It towed that trailer all over Alaska and the PNW, w/ ease.
It got shitty mileage while doing it, and spent most of its time north of 4000 rpm because of the terrain we drove in while pulling.
It is amazing how "refreshed" you feel getting to your destination behind the diesel, because it rarely came out of overdrive.
If you can swing the price increase, and justify the diesel, it definitely is worth it, these days.
Getting old sucks.
