Hey I can understand and appreciate that because I like road safety just as much as the next person driving down the road. The reality is there are many who tow within the ratings and there are those who tow outside the rating. Smart responses, flaming and sarcasm probably won't stop those who overload. Maybe tow charts, statistics, and experiences given in an honest and concerned manner might be more moving to those we are trying to enlighten.
One thing I would like to offer is that overloading is one of many negative risk factors. When do we talk about texting/cell phone handling, improper tires/inflation, worn brakes, unsafe speed, insufficient rest, proper diet/hydration, medication (sedation), etc.?
I can see from a few of my responses that some are so hypersensitive that any question of ratings will lead some to imagining I am trying to use a Pruis to tow a 40' triple axle travel trailer (humor).
Like I said before I really do appreciate hearing from all sides of the fence but I was honestly just asking the mechanical differences of a F250 and F350 just for my curiosity in how Ford builds and markets pick up trucks. I tow with my Excursion but was involved in a project vehicle F250 that used F350 as parts donor (non suspension) and saw way more similarities than differences and wondered about the suspension. It is interesting to note in the 6.0L owner's supplement that both are rated to tow the same weight trailer because they both have a GCWR of 23,000. I am now just wondering what is the difference in their cargo ratings.
No on to your good idea question my answer would depend on the ratings of the tow vehicle and their relation to the weight of the boat/trailer. The exhaust tip appears to be one for a diesel and off the top of my head I thought those trucks can tow 12K-15K bumper pull and I can't see that boat weighing more than that but my eyes aren't as accurate as a CAT scale lol!

I think many of us are worried about all those people that are of the opinion that if you CAN do it you SHOULD do it. We do share the road with them.
Any car or truck can tow more than what it is rated for. The rating is for safety reasons. Some people argue that the ratings are for marketing reasons and still safe.
Does this look like a good idea?
