- As a rule, I only buy from Discount Tire. I like the fact that they are nation wide as we travel.........Nation wide! There prices are good, they are polite and their service is great. I also like how easy their website is to navigate. I'm sold!
- wrenchbenderExplorerI have used Discount Tire for over 44 yrs can not say anything bad. They were always there for me.
- JeremyFrExplorerDiscount Tire is my go to tire shop, I was actually there getting one of the many sets of tires I have purchased there near closing one evening when a gentlemen pulled up and walked in. Said gentlemen walked up to the counter and started talking to the manager. He explained that he'd had work done that afternoon on his brakes at a local Les Schwabb (Avoid those guys at all cost especially after reading this!) Any ways he say's he had brake work done and got on the freeway, once on the free way every time he'd apply the brakes he'd hear a loud "bang" Manager explains to him that they're just a tire shop but that he can take a quick look but will need to refer him back to Les Schwabb. They pull the guys truck in the bay, lift it up, take the wheels off to find that Les Schwabb failed to put one of the caliper bolts back in.
Manager comes back into the lobby explains the situation and calls up the Les Schwabb (here's where it gets really good) He gets LS on the line and explains to them the situation, the LS guy says to him "sorry we're closing in 5 minutes there's nothing we can do" Manager explains to the guy that LS is not willing to wait for him to get back there to fix their life threatening mistake. He then says screw it, we're closing soon but let me see what I can do. He starts making calls to local parts places, locates the bolts, drives out to pick em up and comes back and fixes the guys truck.....NO CHARGE
This and my own bad experiences at LS are why I am and always will be a lifetime Discount/Americas Tire customer and always recommend them to anyone I can. They have always ALWAYS taken care of us and worked deals etc and done excellent work.
I once had a set of tires installed on one of my old cars, saw a huge drop in mileage due to it being a softer tire, they exchanged them for different tires no questions asked. - Grit_dogNavigator

So you were upset that they put on better rated tires than what you ordered?
Only that the tires are rated for quite a bit more than what I need and when aired up to 80psi the ride is rock hard.
I stepped up a tire size and rating so I was quite good with that. When they installed the LR E, the tires have WAY more capacity than is required, and the ride is harsh, and I couldn't find any markings on the aluminum rims to indicate what psi they could handle. I conferred with the manufacturer and was told they would handle the load.
I have a relatively light trailer for the tire capacity I now have.
I didn't say I was upset with the tires.
I am distressed that they didn't pay attention to what I asked of them.
I'm kind of a stickler for that, and it makes me feel I have to watch everything more closely.
Agree with the ineptitude, but you got a freebie, and let some air out and they’ll ride like the tires you wanted. - ktmrfsExplorer II

I've been going to America's, now Discount since around 2000. Always had great service.
Used to go to Schwab. Schwabs about 2 mins from my house. Discount is about 15-20 mins. It seems every time I went into Schwab they wanted to sell me what they thought were what I needed, not what I knew I needed.
Discount works with me like a friend not a cow heading to slaughter.
Sad to say but your experience with Schwab is what I experienced starting about a decade ago. And prices were no great bargain. - pld33270ExplorerI have done business with Discount Tires for years. I like their service and they seem to do a good job every time.

- rbpruExplorer IIThere is a lot to be said for a good tire service shop. I have dealt with the same folks for over twenty years. They are a tuned to what is happening in the tire market, particularly their house brand tires.

I understand it was originally Discount Tire but as they expanded West found that the name was taken in CA and maybe some other states. So in CA same company is America's Tire. And apparently in San Diego County (CA) it is also Discount Tire.
In portland OR for a long time there was a Discount tire chain or something similar. so around here they started as America's tire.
Now, I deal with them often, 1 truck, 2 cars, 2 trailers....
For the life of me I know can't remember if they changed to Discount tire here finally or if it's still America's tire or changed to Discount!!! None the less, same company, same great service, great prices.
FWIW at one time I was a Loyal Les Schwab customer, but Les has IMHO become much less competitive, not as good of warranty, not as good of service, and push their brands of tires (mostly made by Toyo)
They lost me as a customer more than a decade ago. Sad to see since at one time they were great, much like Discount is today.
