Do I 'need' a WB 160"-175" for a 30'TT?
Picking up my new 30' TT at the end of next month. TT UVW is about 5400 and GVWR is 6800lbs. I am going to purchase a 3/4 ton pickup, so I have the extra payload capacity and peace of mind towing with a more powerful TV. So, I went to a few car dealers this weekend looking for a late model pre-owned crew cab.
Now I realize a longer wb will give more towing stability. The wheelbase 'calculator' (that may or may not be bogus anyway) tells me a minimum of 150".
That's pretty much mid 150s" on a reg/short box crew. Long box crew puts me at high 160s to low 170s.
Not opposed to a long box but would there really be much noticeable sway & towing difference with a reg box?
For those that have towed with both would you highly recommend a wb of 169"/172" over a 156"?
