It really depends on the turbo and how hard you were running your engine prior to shutdown. The turbo can actually get red hot during operation. If you shut it down when it's really hot, the oil stops circulating and sits in the hot turbo. If you do this occasionally it probably won't cause any major damage. If you do it repeatedly, the oil will cook and break down and eventually the bearings in the turbo will fail. When that happens, you're looking at a repair bill of several thousand dollars.
