Do you leave your diesel running ...?
I see many diesel drivers who leave the engine running while fueling (or other short-term occasions). For a while, I asked why they did that, just to see what their reason was. Never got the same answ...

I leave mine running with the exhaust brake on at all times when fueling or stopping for a restroom break. Other than that it get's shut down right after I stop.
Does leaving the exhaust brake on when leaving the truck at idle cool off the turbo more quickly than with the exhaust brake left off? And if so, how?
Probably not. I just leave mine on all the time. I let the truck Idle for a few minutes after towing then shut it off. The newer water cooled turbo's are not as sensitive as say my 98 Cummins 12V. I installed a pyro and would wait to shut down at 300 degrees pre turbo.
