Do you leave your diesel running ...?
I see many diesel drivers who leave the engine running while fueling (or other short-term occasions). For a while, I asked why they did that, just to see what their reason was. Never got the same answ...

I would not leave a diesel idling at an island that dispenses gasoline too because of what might happen if there was a gas spill at an adjacent pump. I've seen more than one diesel run away and grenade from gas fumes being sucked into the intake. A couple of them burnt down production tank batteries in spectacular fashion. Without a throttle plate or choke there's no way to shut down a diesel when its fuel is being supplied from an external source.
