- BedlamModeratorOur cab window barely matches the the truck window opening but does serve well for ventilation. Ours has a screen allowing us to open a vent and run the fan so it draws cool air though the window and out the vent.
- jtlingo123Explorersf3291,
You can make a screen yourself, you can buy the parts you need at a big box store and make one. It's not to hard, if your handy at all. I use to live in Arizona and I would make my own shade screens for the house, they would cost about a third of the price compared to having someone come out and install them for me.
Josh - brholtExplorer IIUse it all the time for ventilation. No concerns about rain, someone climbing in, etc. when the truck and camper are parked, but not being used, I leave it open along with two top vents (they have vent covers). Mine has a screen.
- DWeikertExplorer III have the boot that goes between the camper and truck's rear window. I frequently leave both windows open when on the road and use the camper's vent fan to draw heated/cooled air from the truck cab to the camper. Also gives me access to the back seat of the truck from the camper. Mine has no screen so I don't open it off the truck.

Mine has a built in screen similar to the other windows. - bighatnohorseExplorer IIAbsolutely need it - and wouldn't buy a TC without one.
- msiminoffExplorer III use it all the time... for fresh air when the roof vent is running and for make-up air when the Wave3 heater is on (in conjunction with an open roof vent). I find this window to be especially useful in wet weather.
I made a screen from a scrap piece of 1/4" luan plywood and some window screen mesh from the hardware store. It simply rests in the slider track.
-Mark - kerry4951ExplorerSeldom use it and my next TC will not have one.
- bikerdibExplorerMy new (2014) Lance 865 doesn't have a slider, it has a removable window. I'm not really sure of the purpose of the removable window because it is not centered and doesn't really line up with the sliding rear window of my truck. There is no screen so I couldn't open it for fresh air if I wanted to, too many insects in my part of the US. The window does serve a purpose however, the door has the safety view window (option) that gives me a view of a small area behind the camper in the rear view mirror on the windshield of the truck. The safety view window is convex glass.
- sf3291ExplorerFor those that use it all the time, what (if anything) do you do for a screen? I've wanted to use it plenty of times, but keeping bugs out was more of a priority. Mine seems like an odd ball size, so haven't tried too hard to find a screen for it.
