This guy's other setup is a mini-van that tows a 30' TT. Why is that Canadians are the ones that always seem to want to really push the limits? :p
We're like the old Hertz rental ad. When you're number two, you have to try harder.:B - 2500_GruntExplorerNot confirming or denying but, what exactly does the chain hook up to on the TV? Hard to tell in the video?

Eh, not impressed, come back to me when a truck can pull the space shuttle.
A yugo could have pulled the space shuttle. - wilber1Explorer

The truck weighed 70 tons, but he wasn't trying to LIFT it!
Rolling resistance of hard tires on a hard surface is very low. He wasn't exerting more than 2-3 tons of force on that chain.
Entirely possible, even with a normal truck, and not at all worthy of any specific bragging rights.
Merrit is in the middle of the Coast Range. Most grades in that area are in the 6% plus range. Even your Allison would puke trying pull that weight up most of them. That truck has some serious drive line mods as well as a lot of power. - FordloverExplorer

Says his truck dyno'd 581 hp, 1357 lb ft at the wheels. Sounded like a manual tranny. Some clutch and where does he get his U joints.
Well not all clutches are created equal, that much HP and torque, you can have a single, double, or triple disk clutch. Myself I have a double disk, it really grips. - mkirschNomad IIThe truck weighed 70 tons, but he wasn't trying to LIFT it!

not sure what all the comments about the brakes are about, as long as the air tanks are full, the brakes will release, he will run out of air after a couple brakes and then the brakes will lock till he gets more air, or manually over ridden, but you most certainly do not need the truck running
If he had a tank of air, than yes the brakes would release. Wouldn't take to many taps on the brakes to deplete the air, so you would need the truck running to keep the air pressure up. That and most trucks I had the pleasure of driving, lost air pressure at a steady rate when not running. - notevenExplorer IIIThe flat bed is nice....
