.you pay nothing for a recall
Not really so much true. I have to drive 100 miles round trip to my dealer. The recalls are spaced out and some people try to get them taken care of as soon as they get them so with 6 recalls that's 600 miles of fuel and my time which is 50-100 dollars an hour depending on what I'm doing. Even buying the truck I don't spend much time. I see a truck I want I go to the lot and ask for their best deal. They come back with a stupid deal and I will get up out of the chair and go to walk out. I tell them up front I'm not there to haggle. I've done my homework and know what they can sell the truck for. I believe I talked to you by PM on the gray truck I bought and that deal was done by phone because I walked out. The GM called me and made an offer that I was looking for.For most people time is nothing but for me it is.
I have worked in shops a lot in my life and have seen what goes on in them and if any way possible I do not take my vehicles to a public shop. When I need tires, the wheels are removed and I carry them in and watch as the tires are installed on the wheels and balanced.
Guess I under stated it...the cost that someone pays to get a recall done will vary..Im about 4 miles from my dealership, so not so bad for me. I agree that my spare time, like yours, means a lot to me and my family, especially since I had a stroke a little over 2 months ago..so I do understand about time lost. I just meant, to the OP on his 10-11 yr. old truck, at least the recall was covered, less cost of fuel to get to and from the dealership and time wasted on getting the recall done..sorry I over simplified.

:B No harm no foul and I knew what you meant in the long run of things. Heck, there are some OEM that make you pay for a part that is under warranty on a new truck so having something recalled on a truck that is 11 years old don't bother me one bit. It is a company that is stand up IMO to recall a truck that they didn't build begin with , they just bought the company that did, and then pay someone back the money it cost to have the defective part replaced before the recall happened.
BTW, glad you are feeling better and getting on the road back to life. It really makes you love the things you have in life when you see how quick it can be gone. I'm young compared to you but I seen that light 15 years ago and now I try to take everything in as fast as I can and love all I can. :W
OH, and I do Luv Ya man, even though sometimes it don't seem so.. HAHAHA! I much appreciated the PM's I shared with you when I bought my newest truck.
